Preventative Maintenance on Automatic Endoscopic Reprocessors is almost never on the top of the list of things to handle unless the unit's not functioning correctly. Medical offices are typically so busy with so many important things to do it could easily be pushed to the absolute latest acceptable date within the manufacturer's guidelines. But this is not the best practice of course if you're interested in keeping your AER in the best condition possible. And while it may seem like common sense, adding the DSD-EDGE PM (preventative maintenance) scheduled day to your Calendar may not be a bad idea. It might even be a good idea to add a calendar alarm for this.

If you're planning on doing the PM Service yourself or have an expert on staff it also makes good sense to have a preventative maintenance kit on hand for your specific AER hand prior to needing it. Its always better to know well in advance if there's any issues with parts being available. With this in mind it may be a good idea to order the next kit when your calendar says it's time to perform the current preventative maintenance routines. Make it the first step. "1. Order New PM Kit for next PM". That way there's never any down time or the possibility of not having the parts necessary to properly complete the scheduled preventative maintenance for your DSD-EDGE AER or DSD-201 AER.

If you're like most medical facilities however, you'll be scheduling MedService Repair to handle the PM for you. Our expert technicians and decades of high quality service history takes the headache out of keeping your machines in tip top condition. It allows you to focus on your core competency and us on ours.

While PM service times vary based on the machine being serviced and the needs of the specific unit, it can take up to 6 hours if completed on-site. So schedules must be adjusted so that the down time doesn't affect your patient flow keeping down-time to a minimum.

Another potential inconvenience and factor to be considered is that more than likely your main water shut off will have to be turned off for a short period. If you've had the foresight on the initial installation of the AER to add a water shut off valve at the connection point of the AER, fantastic. This alleviates the headache of the entire facility being without water. The water must be shut off as the DSD-EDGE and the DSD-201 need to be completely flushed out. And because this includes draining the units the water must be shut off so they don't continue to fill.

Managing the PM schedule is actually not that difficult as long as you're on it. And with partners like MedService Repair doing the heavy lifting, you're office won't miss a beat.
