The Medivators Advantage Plus has a long feature list and was designed specifically for quick and easy use and relatively simple maintenance. The Advantage Plus was designed to test, clean, disinfect and rinse endoscopes.

There's a long list of features related to the disinfection of endoscopes for this amazing machine and some of the highlights are:

Individual channel connectively

Channel blockage monitoring

Dedicated computer system (PC) controlling all aspects of the reprocessing cycle(s) and recording. The reporting capabilities ensures quality assurance and backups are simple to manage. It also offers network connectivity and remote diagnostics

Asynchronous operation of dual processing basins. It also includes glass covers to easily monitor progress.

Detergent and Alcohol reservoirs that are accessible and easy to re-fill.

Hook-up blocks that are dedicated to similar endoscopes to ensure correct connections and flow rates that their manufacturers have outlined.

Full interface for assisting the operator and troubleshooting

While the full list of features is extensive it's important to also consider the regular and preventative maintenance that will be required for the AER that your medical facility will be utilizing. This AER, as with most, must be meticulously pre-cleaned immediately after use and regularly scheduled maintenance must be performed as well. Med Service Repair offers a complete line of preventative maintenance kits for AERs. Additionally, it will be important that you train your staff not only how to use the machine but to maintain it and understand any emergency procedures for toxic, flammable or pathogenic material that might be released into the environment as well.

Proper maintenance definitely prolongs the operating life of the reprocessor. There are several different types of maintenance required. The manufacturer outlines them in their manual for the Advantage plus.

Daily Maintenance, Weekly Maintenance and Monthly maintenance are outlined in the machine's MFG manual. And while annual maintenance kits are available, you should consider having a trained technician doing annual maintenance tasks.

Here are some of the Daily service requirements.
The following are actually outlined in the user manual under Operation.

At the start of each day the MFG recommends the following:

A) Confirm that the main air pressure regulator is set between 2.8-3.0 bar (42.0-45.0 psi)

B) Confirm that the leak test air pressure regulator is set at 0.24-0.25 bar (3.6-3.75 psi)

C) Verify that the flow of water is sufficient into the basin. If not, replace the system filters.

D) Check all O-rings on the connection columns making sure that they are present and in good working order.

E) Inspect the screens in the rinse basin. If they are soiled replace them.

At the end of each day the MFG recommends:

  • A)The top and outside covers should be cleaned with a non-scouring cleansing agent
  • B)On the endoscope basin and inside covers clean with a non-scouring, lime dissolving cleansing agent
  • C)Use soap and water to clean the cover gaskets and prevent them from sticking

Each Week the MFG recommends:

The following items should be inspected on a weekly basis. Adjustment or changes should be made by a qualified service technician.

  • A)Hookup Connector Blocks: Look for cracks in the hook-up hoses. Pay special attention to where the connection is made at the connection block. If any cracks exist the hose should be immediately replaced.
  • B)Glass Covers: The basin lids should open and close very easily.
  • C)Door: The front door should open and close very easily.
  • D)Medivators Advantage Plus System Tubing, Connections, Fittings, Hydraulics and Dosing System: Check for wear and/or leakage and replace if needed.
  • E)O-Ring Lubrication

The Monthly maintenance tasks are also listed in the user manual. Because there are many steps and photos of those specific steps are very helpful, we recommend that you review the online manual when performing the monthly PM on your Advantage Plus or any other Medivators AER machines.
